Help for patients
Beyond Brilliant are helping patients on a practical level. ‘You have a brain tumour’ is possibly one of the worst things a person can hear.
Immediately your world changes, your world becomes silent, you lose your ability to talk & then your world just as quickly becomes noisy & all you want to do is talk & ask millions of questions but you don’t know what questions to ask.
Reach out to by phone or email to Beyond Brilliant and we will walk through it with you, we can hold your hand & listen to you. We will have the right person to talk this through with you & simply be there for you. If you need help to organize your schedule to get through surgery we will help, if you need assistance to arrange transport, accommodation or meals, we can help. If you need someone to sit in with your medical appointments with you we will do that also. Beyond Brilliant aim to make this journey you have unwillingly embarked on less lonely for you. We want you to know that you are not alone, we are with you every step of the way.
Mostly we find that people simply need to know that someone understands what they are going through & that they are not alone; we are those people.
Help for doctors
While the medical profession has a good understanding of brain tumours it can be just as difficult for them when they have to say to a patient ‘You have a brain tumour’.
Beyond Brilliant support the medical professionals by being there for Doctors to refer their patients to with complete confidence. Everyone is treated equally & with strict confidence & dignity.
General Practitioner’s are the centre of treatment for someone with a brain tumour. They keep informed of the patient’s treatments & co-ordinate necessary follow-ups while managing the general health of the patient.
Beyond Brilliant are available to all GP’s to refer patients needing practical help whilst receiving treatments.
Beyond Brilliant has a medical advisor on the committee who has himself survived a brain tumour. Dr John Tickell is alive, well & living an extremely active life after almost 6 years of having brain tumour treatment. With Beyond Brilliant Foundation Dr John is active in promoting a healthy lifestyle & is dedicated to seeing Australia lose it’s unwanted title of being one of the top 5 countries with brain tumours. Brain tumours are the #1 killer of people under the age of 40! Beyond Brilliant Foundation not only want to support those effected but also are working with medical professionals to loose this unwanted title.
Help for supporters
It has become a question of ‘who’ rather than ‘do’ you know who has had cancer today.
Our supporters have all been touched by cancer in some way, whether it is himself or herself or a loved one. Sadly brain tumours have touched so many. Knowing the loneliness of the journey our supporters find comfort in knowing they are making a difference to make the situation better or even just a little less daunting for others.
Not only do our supporters find comfort for themselves they are involved in the progress being made and learning new skills for themselves. Beyond Brilliant are dedicated to ensuring everyone benefits.
As survivors of being touched by brain tumours we know our journey never truly ends so by being a supporter of Beyond Brilliant you are never alone, we will always do our best to make sure you will never walk alone.
